Happy Star Wars Celebration week, folks. It feels like forever since the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens arrived. Well, not too worry as another trailer for the highly anticipated film has arrived. Okay... just give me a second to freak out here. OH MY GOD! It's EPIC!!!
Towards the end of last year, Disney and LucasFilm surprised the world by unleashing the teaser trailer for The Force Awakens upon us and, of course, as expected, the response was HUGE. Everyone loved it; I know I certainly did. However, it didn't reveal too much about what's actually in-store for us come December this year. Now, with only a few months remaining until it arrives, what better way to honor and celebrate Star Wars Celebration than with the debut of another, longer, more packed teaser for Episode VII and it's F*CKING GLORIOUS.
A LONG time has past since the last Star Wars film was released and, now, over a decade later, we're getting ready for the return to one of the biggest franchises of all time, with this year's Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. That's right folks, we're going back to A Galaxy Far, Far Away! An overwhelmingly vast amount of anticipation has built up for this film and, based on the trailer, it's definitely going to deliver.
As well as the reveal, The Force Awakens will just be the comeback of a franchise that was golden when it was big. Despite all the various rumours, we know and have seen very little from this film. We're going to into it with very little drops of knowledge, starting fresh - new characters, new story etc - so get to experience the birth (or rebirth, in this case) of Star Wars again.
I have to say that I'm LOVING this trailer. With the teaser, whilst it showed enough to get us excited, this longer teaser expands on that. We get a better idea at the tone of the film and just a better idea of what's coming. We also have some familiar faces returning, which is awesome to see - "Chewie, we're home." It's quite a packed teaser but there's plenty to get hyped about. There's a few good shots and a real poignant sense of nostalgia here too. We're offered a better look at the new Stormtroopers, a chase sequence involving Millennium Falcon and our first good look at our antagonist Kylo Ren! YES PLEASE! Episode VII is easily one of my most anticipated films of this year and I'm sure than most people can say the same. It looks great.
Picking up after Return of the Jedi, this will unite old characters with new to kick off a new era of Star Wars films. There's lots of nostalgia here, from the old films, but there's also a whole load of exciting new features and concept too. It's going to be good! Hopefully the film is just as good - if not better - than how gloriously it has showed itself off to be.
Back in March, the full schedule for the Star Wars Celebration was unveiled and it was revealed that we'd be seeing our first full trailer, along with the poster, there. Anticipation since has been huge but now you can rest and just feast your eyes on the glory of it. It's embedded at the bottom of this post. Of course, if you're unable to be attending the event, the entire 3 days will be available to watch live on Star Wars' official site. So you can watch all of the other panels live right there. The streams will also include any exclusive footage shown to the Anaheim crowds. Pretty neat, if you ask me.
With J.J Abrams at the helm and starring Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Kenny Baker, Peter Mayhem, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Lupita Nyong'o, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis, Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas on December 18th, 2015.
We'll have a full breakdown of the new trailer and all the new info and reveals from The Force Awakens panel soon so stay tuned for that. Until then...
