Everyone seems to be adopting the Christopher Nolan, Dark Knight "gritty is good" approach at the moment. The latest to join the wannabe, "edgy reboot" group is Saban's Power Rangers and the new trailer shows that in abundance. I'll not waste any more of your time. Lionsgate dropped the first, full-length reveal trailer for their forthcoming Power Rangers film so check it out below:
The Power Rangers reboot has been under much scrutiny for some time now, because of its "edgy" approach. Personally, I quite liked the teaser we saw a few months back - an edgier Breakfast Club almost. However, this new trailer has be back to being scrutinising and skeptical. I'm just not a fan of the look of the Rangers themselves; I love the stuff involving the teens, not so much the heroic antics. I hope I'm wrong but it just looks like bloated and messy. Here's the synopsis:
SABAN’S POWER RANGERS follows five ordinary teens who must become something extraordinary when they learn that their small town of Angel Grove — and the world — is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so, they will have to overcome their real-life issues and before it’s too late, band together as the Power Rangers.
With Dean Israelite at the helm, and starring Naomi Scott, Becky G, Dacre Montgomery, Ludi Rin, TJ Cyler, Elizabeth Banks, Bill Hader, and Bryan Cranston, Power Rangers opens March 24th, 2017.
