Marvel debuted the teaser trailer during the NBA finals overseas in the States and it has now arrived online so check it out below:
Whilst the teaser certainly doesn't give much away, it does set-up the King of Wakanda's first solo outing and gives us a brief idea of what to expect come February. Chadwick Boseman made his scene-stealing debut as the fan-favourite hero in last Summer's Civil War and, ever since, fans have been eager to see the character stretch his claws a little more in his own film. From what we see in the teaser above, it certainly looks like this will be a much darker, more dramatic MCU affair than we're used to - especially in comparison to the lighter, more colourful GOTG Vol. 2, Homecoming and Ragnarok this year. Whilst it's a short trailer, there's still plenty of cool action and great story and mythos being teased here and I'm certainly already excited to see more.
Personally, Black Panther is one of my more anticipated films of Marvel's in recent years, mainly due just to the talent involved in this project (from director Ryan Coogler to a stellar African-American cast) - not to mention T'Challa's lauded comic-book history as one of the studio's most nuanced superheroes. Accompanying the reveal, a teaser poster has also been released. However, the blending of the colours isn't great and the photoshopping of Boseman's face onto the Black Panther suit is inexcusably bad. In between this and the pretty awful, overstuffed Spider-Man poster from last month, Marvel has really dropped the ball with the quality of their new one-sheets. Nonetheless, though, it doesn't take away from the fact that this is shaping up to be one of Marvel's most promising entries thus far, and one to definitely mark on the calendars.
