There's perhaps no writer out there that can handle the biopic genre quite the way Aaron Sorkin does. And he's back at it again, with Molly's Game.

STX Entertainment debuted the trailer for Sorkin's directorial debut earlier this afternoon, and you can check it out below:

Aaron Sorkin is, perhaps, one of the most talented writers out there - certainly one of my favourites, having penned both The Social Network and Steve Jobs, two of my favourite films of the decade. However, with Molly's Game, not only is Sorkin writing but he's also taking the helm too, making his directorial debut with the biopic... and it looks utterly incredible.

Molly Bloom, who'll be played by Jessica Chastain here, was infamous for creating an illegal poker empire in Los Angeles during her gap year from Law School; she was responsible for creating some of the most exclusive and most profitable Poker games in the State, and made quite the reputation for herself before she was forced to face the courts for her crimes. It's certainly a fascinating story - a perfect one in the hands of the biopic master Sorkin, who'll be adapting from Bloom's memoirs. The trailer certainly teases that sharp Sorkin writing we've come to know and love from any of his films, as well as another brilliant performance from the always great Chastain. It's a very promising film and it'll be interesting to see just what Sorkin brings to the film's direction, making his debut. I'm certainly excited to see this one.

Here's the film's official synopsis:

MOLLY’S GAME is the true story of Molly Bloom a beautiful, young, Olympic-class skier who ran the world’s most exclusive high-stakes poker game for a decade before being arrested in the middle of the night by 17 FBI agents wielding automatic weapons. Her players included Hollywood royalty, sports stars, business titans and finally, unbeknownst to her, the Russian mob. Her only ally was her criminal defense lawyer Charlie Jaffey, who learned that there was much more to Molly than the tabloids led us to believe.
With Aaron Sorkin at the helm, and starring Jessica Chastain, Idris Elba, Michael Cera, Chris O'Dowd, and Kevin Costner, Molly's Game will open in the States on November 22nd, before hitting UK cinemas the following month, on December 26th, 2017.
